My 1st Domain name (Getting start)

Files under Domain Name | 4 Comments

When i started getting involve in the webmaster world, i start it part time with my own interested, i started to find all related information that i did not learn in my academic last time. During my academic time, i know what is Domain Name, i know what is Hosting, i know what is FTP, but i did not know how it works.

Try and Error
After i involve into Webmaster world, I started to collect all related tools, mostly are free tools, such as free hosting and ftp software, i started to participate in forum, the most visit forum will be WebmasterMalaysia.com, i meet a lot of senior webmaster there, they share a lot of useful information with me, after that i started to do testing. Try and error.

Until 1 day, i feel that a webmaster no matter is part time or full time, i must have at least 1 domain name. So i started to open a thread at forum, asking where to buy cheapest domain. Here is the link to that thread. After calculating the cheapest registrar, i make my decision to purchase from namecheap.com.

I Buy Domain from
The price would be $8.88, but some member in forum provide me PROMOCODE, when i purchase, it cost me $7.99 with the promocode. The package also free “whoisGuard” for 1 year, which can protect your information.

Pay with
Before purchase the domain, i need to have my payment method. NameCheap accepting credit card direct and also pay pal. For a conservative guy like me, some more 1st time purchase online, i will choose to pay with pay pal. I buy pay pal fund from a person in lowyat.net, whom my friend recommend to me, after he transfer for me, i have a problem to accept the fund, pay pal need a credit card or debit card to activate the account.

Oops… write so much still not yet write my domain name, I bought LittlePenang.com from NameCheap. That is the beginning of the webmaster life. So what is your 1st domain?

iCalvyn.com, Started from PR Zero

Today was 1st of April, “april fools” until now i still not yet get fool by any one, just a boring sunday.  Sudently i have an idea want to check on my site PR, definately will be zero, lets check on my blog Page Rank(PR), and logon to www.prchecker.info

Page Rank Tool

it is Zero, no Page Rank yet

Previously i always see “PR” at alot of forum, i tough it is “Public Relationship”, the webiste need to have public relationship amoung other website then only can have high PR, but it was wrong, lets see  what google says on PR:

PageRank Explained

PageRank relies on the uniquely democratic nature of the web by using its vast link structure as an indicator of an individual page’s value. In essence, Google interprets a link from page A to page B as a vote, by page A, for page B. But, Google looks at more than the sheer volume of votes, or links a page receives; it also analyzes the page that casts the vote. Votes cast by pages that are themselves “important” weigh more heavily and help to make other pages “important.”

Important, high-quality sites receive a higher PageRank, which Google remembers each time it conducts a search. Of course, important pages mean nothing to you if they don’t match your query. So, Google combines PageRank with sophisticated text-matching techniques to find pages that are both important and relevant to your search. Google goes far beyond the number of times a term appears on a page and examines all aspects of the page’s content (and the content of the pages linking to it) to determine if it’s a good match for your query.
