I wish to have a PDA smart phone since many year ago, but after think twice, what my purpose to having a smart phone? Play game, show off? like all the “ah beng” and “ah lian” own a smart phone for gaming and phone call only?

I am satisfy with my Candy bar previously, a Calender able to let store reminder, note function able to let me store some data, 2MP camera able to let me shoot some important image, but when more and more data to keep, my candy bar unable to perform chocolate bar function. I require a Chocolate bar to enable me store more document like presentation, excel file, word file; go online to look for information at Internet hot spot instead of carry my net book; wider screen for me to show some web design template for my customer and etc.

Few month ago, a friend of mine introduce me HTC wildfire, offering me an awesome price (You can’t found in the market) with full warranty, but that moment, my candy bar haven get sick. Before I get my HTC Aria, I look for my friend, unfortunately, no more good deal at this moment.

My experience on DG online Store
I searching around, and found DG online store selling HTC Aria at at RM1,599 (Phone RRP: RM 1,799) and will have at RM300 rebate if purchase with using Paypal. Here what DG quote:

For HTC Aria, you pay RM1,599 and enjoy RM300* rebates. Nett price: RM1,599 -RM300 = RM1,299

*All rebates will be credited into customer’s PayPal account 4 weeks from the date of successful delivery of the item.

Seem like not much choice for me, I don’t want iPhone, and Blackberry as a lot of bad news out there, so without think much and research the feature for this phone, I immediate make decision to purchase.

I submit my order on Sunday evening, DG Online Store’s system asking me to choose the delivery date (they promise the goods will arrive 3 days to 5 working days) the system shows wednesday onward, so i choose on Wednesday.

After do the payment, I am very desperate to get my 1st smart phone, Monday I query the DG online store for my purchase status, it show consignment number “Pending”, I call in to the helpline, the officer tell me every thing is on track, I will receive a call from courier service and receive my HTC Aria at Wednesday.

Tuesday I make the same query, and call to helpline, same answer from the officer. Wednesday, after lunch time, no respond from DG and the courier service. I have a bad feeling DG is not doing their job.

I call to courier service center, they said don’t have any record on my name and my delivery address. I start to get mad and call to DG center, trying to get some info, unfortunately, “unexpectedly”, the officer handle my problem like MAXSHIT’s officer. I am very disappointed with DG because all the while the way they handle customer is very nice and I am very satisfy with their respond. Piss off!

After make a few call, the officer said will call me immediately on Thurday morning once they find out what the problem. On Thursday morning, no respond from DG, I call in and screw again, and some one call me after half hour, a person name “Mykel”, explain nicely and mention my HTC Aria is at courier service center already, they will call me shortly.

Within another half hour, courier service call me, and I decide to collect it my self instead of waiting them to delivery. Overall, not really as expected (I expect DG can do better then others)

My HTC Aria User opinion and Review
The HTC Aria come with 2G Micro SD card, still enough for me at the moment, and the market price for 8G Micro SD card is about RM45, might get 8G Micro SD soon.

Battery
The battery is very small, and as expected, the battery drain very fast, within 1 and half day finish already.

Android Version
HTC Aria come with Android 2.1, I am using Android 2.1 for 1 week, and discover some inconvenience feature, such as messages did not show blocks, and software unable to install in external memory card. After upgrade to 2.2, the feature is much more better, but some time I found when I open the phone and start scrolling, it will have a 0.5 second hang time. This discovery only found after install from Android 2.1 to Android 2.2

Android’s Software
I am still playing around with my HTC Aria, looking around some nice software, hopefully will discover some tips to share here. As what I discover, what ever software available at iPhone, android will also available. In my opinion, although a lot people own iPhone, but I foresee the Android market is much more bigger then iPhone.

iPhone require to jail break only able to get all the paid software free, for android, you can download the APK file from a lot forum that share “crack” software. I have download “Document to go” and “Papago X5″ to my HTC Aria few days ago

Disadvantage
After few week playing around, the only disadvantage I discover is the alarm. Alarm cannot rang when the phone is shutting down.
Usually I will shutdown my phone and charge the battery, this kind of method seriously will prolong my battery life time (as I practice this for my Nokia 6300, the battery life time is still very strong right now), for my HTC Aria, the alarm unable to rang when the smart phone is shutting down. Few time I unable to awake due to the alarm not ringing, and I am charging my phone over night.

Other then the phone, I get a nice number prepaid sim pack and a big umbrella

CSL launch their first Android Tablet name Spice MI700 Droidpad at October, and they having a roadshow at gurney plaza. We are invited to have a simple DroidPad review during their launching at Gurney Plaza.

In my impression, CSL is a company that provide 18month warranty for all the product they sell, is the longest warranty provided in the market. My experience with CSL is back from few year ago when I purchase my Nokia 6300 with CSL, after that I come across D300 from CSL, which is a dual sim card phone.

The technical person is introducing us the functionality of MI700 Droidpad, while the technical explain the wifi router function, some one ask how many nodes able to attach with the wifi router, and the technical person answer “unlimited“… On that moment onward, I draw my attention away from the crowd.

After the understanding on the Droidpad functionality, here come the wonderful moment. Among the 20blogger, 1 of us will win a Droidpad back home.

After the event finish, the Droidpad’s promoter trying to interview few of the blogger to get their respond on this devices.

CSL Droidpad standard package include: transceiver,1 year map king license, tablet pouch, handfree, charger, in- car charger, usb cable, screen protector, manual book and warranty card. Selling price right now is RM1599

In my opinion, pricing is definitely cheaper then the “apple” brand, but the screen resolution need to be improve. Convenience wise, USB port is a must for user to transfer file, unfortunately, only Mini-USB available for this device.

When talking about Malaysia Telco, especially Maxis, I have ton of experience to share with. If you ask my personal opinion on this telco, I have a very bad impression on Maxis. As mention before on “Maxis dissapointed me again“, “Maxis Suxxx Again” and “Maxis Lousy Service” and much more that I not really share at my blog.

Since Maxis so bad, Why I still deal with Maxis?
I have quit Maxis service long long time ago, they dispointed me during I use their bad broadband services. I told my self not to touch Maxis any more. Unfortunately, I meet them in the juction this few month.

Overview of my story
Recently I found my phone bill was increase due to communication with my girlfriend, she is using her brother’s supplimentary line with Maxis. After discuss, we plan to change her number to become my supplimentary line, so that we can enjoy free call to each others within a family plan.

Call to Maxis Helpline
One of the helpline’s consultant said require the owner and my self to walk in maxis center to do ownership transfer, unfortunately we unable to arrange a free time. I was asking for alternative solution, the consultant advice me to obtain an authorization letter from her brother, together with photostat identification card and signature.

Walk in Maxis Center ask to double confirm
I always not trust what Maxis’s consultant told. I walk in into Maxis center to tell them what the helpline’s consultant advice. I get another confirmation from them.

Some hickup happen
Few month ago, Maxis suddenly charge extra RM250+ to my girlfriend phone bill (usually RM30 only), after check with Maxis, they said she require to paid first, and Maxis will investigate what is the problem.

Within a week time after she paid, Maxis come back, mention is their system problem, will rebate the money, not in cash, credit back in her account, so she unable to move to other network at the moment, else will lost all the credit there.

In my opinion: Probably this is one of the Maxis business tactic, they know you not satisfy with their service and possible to change to other network, so they force you to paid first, then rebate back the credit to make you stay with them another few month to use up the credit. After few month, you might lost your intention to change telco any more.

Time to change on 9th October 2010
So after few month (last week) we ready the authorization letter, and I walk in into Maxis center to do the process. Here come the problem, maxis center’s consultant told me no such thing of authorization letter to change ownership (maxis always bull shit). I was mad and start to voice louder, I request to see the branch manager. After the consultant chit chat with the manager, the consultant come back and told me this time is an exception, they can do it for me (See! bull shit again)

I request Maxis center convert the number into Hotlink (prepaid) first because when postpaid ownership transfer, it require RM50 fees. But prepaid ownership transfer, not require this fees.

Maxis consultant told me to wait 3 days for the process of ownership transfer, they move the postpaid to prepaid within few hour on that day (still remain same owner)

3 Days later on 14th October 2010
I still did not get any respond from Maxis, I decide to calll maxis postpaid 1800 82 1123, they said the number is currently in prepaid, they unable to do any thing, they request me to call Maxis prepaid. (What the hell Maxis require to have so many division? They really don’t have a good management, unlike other telco)

I call to maxis prepaid helpline 1300 820 120, they told me there are some problem on the ownership transfer.

When Maxis Center doing conversion from postpaid to prepaid, they put the number into YouthClub package (only entitle for 25 year old below) While my self is more then 25 year old, so the system cannot accept ownership transfer, the owner of this number require to convert it into normal prepaid plan (Advise me to do it on the phone). The consultant advice me currently their system under some maintenance, I only able to do it on 15th October onward.

In my Opinion: System lousy we still understood, when change from postpaid to prepaid, the system put the number into YouthClub because the owner is below 25 year old which bring the best benefit. Unfortunately, the consultant already know the ownership transfer issue, and they never use human brain to arrange it. Maxis never stand at customer point of view to think!

Unable to change the prepaid plan on 15th October 2010
The consultant told me if unable to change it on the phone, I require to call in to check again. I am very fet up because using whole morning and afternoon calling 1300 820 120 for more then 20 times, no consultant attend to me, and keep on hearing the 1Malaysia’s song. (1300 number is not toll free! Who should I claim my phone bill from? Maxis?)

I have call Maxis postpaid 1800 82 1123 check, same reason from them, they number is current in prepaid, they cannot do much thing for me. I request the consultant to try the best, help me contact the Maxis center or prepaid division, and the consultant agree.

Around 5.30pm, I try my luck for 1300 820 120 prepaid helpline. Some one pickup, and after check, the consultant told me the number I give is not maxis number (WTF… What the bullshit?) I does not panic, because most of the Maxis consultant are blur and no product knowledge. So I ask the consultant if the number is not in the system or not Maxis number? Why in the case number I provide still have that number in the report? The consultant unable to answer me and put me on hold again (Different between DG and Maxis is, Maxis consultant always put me on hold longer, let me enjoy the lovely song)

When the consultant come back to me, mention that this number ownership already change to my name (OMG! I was happy, because I can get rid from MAXIS already) and last question I ask, what is the prepaid plan I am in right now? The consultant said is YouthClub. What the heck previosly the consultant told me unable to change ownership is because of YouthClub, and now able to do it? (This is what MAXIS always done to their customer)

Imediately after office hour, I can’t event wait 1 more second to stay with MAX’SHIT, I went to DG and do the telco conversion. DG told me next day I able to use it already.

Funny call from MAXIS on 16th October 2010
I receive a call from Maxis, tell me the ownership already transfer from my girlfriend’s brother name to my name. I also told MAXIS i have 1 more announcement for them. I said I already transfer from MAXIS to DG!

At the meantime, I told the MAXIS personnel how un-satisfy I am with MAXIS! and 1 more thing I found from this ‘consultant’ was, the ownership transfer require 1 week, not 3 days as the MAXIS center’s consultant said. If this is real, the timing is right, while the YouthClub plan thingy, is just a BULL SHIT from MAXIS

My self always DG supporter, I never found any problem with their services, their helpline are very friendly, knowledgeable too. I wonder since MAXIS so lousy service, why you all are still using them?

1983: While sitting in the parked car at solders field in chicago, Bell executive Bob Barnett makes the first celular call over a commercial network to a descendant of alexander Graham Bell. While definitelly a first, this was not the strangest act over performed in a parked car at soldier field.

1987: In one of the cell phone’s 1st starring roles as a business tools, wall street stud Gordon Gekko some how manages to hold a celll phone to his ear despite its tremendaus size and the oilness of his hair.

1989: A long time before anyone heard the word iPod, the folks at Apple (some of whom would later work on the iPod) start working on the newton platform, described as handheld computer. In the next decade, the newton would fall from the tree before it was ripe, but the basic idea landed in the hands of a fellow named Steve Jobs.

1992: The first so-called smartphone, the IBM Simon, is introduced, it contins a calendar and clock, can send faxes and electronic messages and oh yeah, can make phone calls, all with a nifty stylus. The flat screen; 17 year later, we finally figure out we don’t need a stylus and can just use our finger.

2001: The Apple launch the iPod, it not a phone or a PDA or a computer, but it will influence the features and storage capabilitys we will come to expect from our cell phone.

2002: What we know as the modern BlackBerry design debuts and attention spans at business meetings will never be the same.

2007: Steve Jobs comes down from the mountain holding an iPhone. The touchscreen, voice calling and internet features, storage capability and apps represent the culmination of the cell phone as a multi service device, and the real begining if the mobile entrepreneur.

2008: Mobile phone companies, recently obsessed with selling Hannah Montana phone skins to 10 year old relize that small buisness owner have more money than some of the 10 year olds Small business, focused service plans and devices arrive en masse.

2009: Nokia opens its OVI App Store. In addition to the business focused app stores for the Black Berry, the iPhone and the palm pre, there’s now a place to easily buy fresh apps for your nokia smartphone.

Digi recently launch their new digi broadband service at 19th March 2009 which using HSPA technology (High Speed Package Access)

Digi do have wireless broadband service year ago, the old digi broadband service with using EDGE technology (Enhance Data rate for GSM Evolution), this technology come before 3G service available at Malaysia. Since they are using EDGE technology for their 1st wireless digi broadband, the speed is slightly slower then 3G, and my boss are subscribe the service with a free laptop year ago, here my review on digi broadband on October 2007. The speed for the previous digi broadband using EDGE technology was just 224kbps only

I not really have the opportunities to tested on the performance for this new digi broadband plan, but pricing wise compare to Maxis broadband(RM68 per month) or Streamyx (RM60 per month) cheapest combo package that I current using, is much more cheaper. Also, previously I was maxis broadband narrowband user, and really fet up with their service.

What are the digi broadband plan available for us?

Digi do provide 3 broadband package for light user, intermediate customer and advance subscriber. The discover plan, priced at RM58 per month with a 3GB data usage (700kbps download speed and 200kbps upload speed) are suitable for light user, while intermediate customer can subscribe explorer plan which at RM108 per month for 10GB of data usage. (700kbps download speed and 200kbps upload speed)
For Advance user like me, who surf Internet more then 8 hours per days, 7 days a week shall subscribe extreme plan which priced at RM188 per month with 20GB data usage.(2Mbps download speed and 1Mbps upload speed)

How if additional use for the data usage?
Discover plan and explore plan subscriber who exceed their monthly limit will be charged 15sen for each 10Kb of data used, the maximum amount is capped at RM138 per month, but for extreme plan subscriber, there are no extra charge, but might get slower speed after that.
Advantage:
The best for this digi broadband plan is without need to paid any registration or upfront fees, unlike maxis, RM100 activation, Streamyx RM75 activation, and P1 RM160(RM100 registration, and RM60 Activation), any one who would like to have a trial, also won’t feel “heart pain” while switch to digi broadband, and may quit any time without loss the activation fees.

Disadvantage:
Modem fees require to bare your self, RM300 for discover plan and explore plan, while extreme plan is RM500, unlike Streamyx(RM60 include modem), maxis (RM68 include modem), and P1(RM49 include modem), modem are included in the monthly access fees, which are cheaper then digi broadband.(RM88 include modem)

Now, Digi give FREE Modems for explore and extreme plan, as well as a subsidized modem for discover plan (User only pays RM15 a month for 12 months). I believe much more promotion and offer will be giving out by Digi soon in the future.

Above are the digi broadband modem snap shoot grab from Goldfries.com which blog about digi blogger gathering at KL. I wonder when digi will organize blogger gathering at Penang. I will definitely join this gathering.

*DS300 lowest price in Penang RM399 Only, most of the seller out the sell DS300 at RM450 to RM550

Yesterday morning I receive a call from my trusted mobile phone shop, inform me a new mobile phone name DS300 from CSL, which is dual sim card mobile handset have arrive their shop, this mobile phone totally similar with my Nokia 6300. I have went to the shop and have a look on this new hand phone.

DS300 Mobile Phone from CSL (Commitment, Service, Loyalty), a company that provide 15 month full warranty for the mobile phone, this model also known as CLS DS300, which provide dual sim card activate at the same time.

Dual Sim Card Phone
While you are receiving call from Sim number 1, and sim number 2 have incoming call, the phone will let you know there it incoming call. Unlike samsung, also have a model that have dual sim card function, but only can activate 1 at the same time.

2 Battery, USB Charger, Car Charger, 1G Memory Card
This model come with 2 battery, also consider an advantage for heavy usage holder. Other then this, it use USB Charger, also supported normal nokia charger. In the box, come with Car Charger, and also 1G memory card.

Other then Nokia Charger compatibility, Nokia 6300′s battery also compatible, you can use nokia BL-4C battery for DS300 mobile phone.

Drawback of DS300
Camera 1.3MP(mega pixel) only, compare to nokia 6300 which is 2MP, DS300′s software (Nokia 6300 use symbian), keypad are not as smooth as nokia 6300.

Worth to buy?
Do you know the price? Nokia 6300 selling at RM650 if not mistaken (I buy RM760 last year), and this DS300 Mobile phone with dual sim card function are selling at RM400++ (approx $150)

Although DS300 are so-call “china stock“, but with 12 month full warranty from CSL consider worth to buy(Nokia Phone 15 Month Warranty). Some more provide 1G memory card, car charger, 2 battery which Nokia 6300 did not provided.

My Advice
If you currently taking 2 cellphone, you can consider to buy DS300 with only RM400++. Save space and with 2 battery, no need to worry battery finish.

If you interested to buy, give me a nudge, I can get some discount from my trusted mobile phone shop

Do you encounter bad customer service at your service provider? such as bank, restaurant, telco, hotel, bla bla bla…

Again and again, this Maxis again make me hot temper to them~ *~Ahrrrr~*

2 month ago when i receive my Maxis Boardband bill, usually is RM68.00 without other charges, but that particular month, it charges me RM69.52, and I have call their service center 1800 82 2000 for complaint.

The help desk said will pass this case to their billing dept, and will call back shortly…. The so called “”"”shortly”"”" took me 2 month and no news at all~

This is the bill I receive 2 month ago, previous balance is all nice. But the monthly charges suddenly increase to RM69.52. And see the “other charges” and the “discount and rebate“. Every month also have different figure, I don’t know how their IT department work~….. TIPU MAKAN tau MAKAN ULAR (no skill or lazy)

When I receive my latest bill this month (below), It stated that RM68.00 but balance forward RM1.52, total is RM69.52 (Previously month I just paid RM68.00 and purposely owe them RM1.52)

And I cant stand any more and call them today, a guy name Mr.J answer my call

Me: I having this problem….last month i call before….no reply…. pls check for me…

Mr.J: Hold on for a second, I check for you… *~wait 5 min to hear the LOVELY song~*

Mr.J: Sorry for keep you waiting, yes, your charges is RM69.52, this is the amount you need to pay.

Me: I think you not understand me… *~explain again~* …

Mr.J: Yes, this is the charges…*~explain how they charges, split one by one told me..bla bla bla~*

Me: I don care how you charges, I only know that Maxis suppose to charge me RM68.00, that all for every month.

Mr.J: Pls hold on, let me double confirm *~LOVE song again, 5 min wait~*

HERE come the ridiculous part

Mr.J: Sorry for keep you waiting, do you make complaint that your service have problem recently?

Me: Yes, I do, I forgot when, just recently…

Mr.J: Yes, this is the rebate for your service interruption, you need to pay RM1.52 for this month only

Me: *~What the heck you are talking about… PAID RM1.52 must well no need to pay~ I ask my reader each person throw you 1 cent also cover the RM1.52~* Are you sure, but my latest bill not stated RM1.52, is RM69.52 leh~

Mr.J: Sorry for that, let me check again *~ Hear the LOVELY song again for 5 min~*

Mr.J: Sorry, I will pass this case to the related dept and they will contact you shortly.

Me: Ya, sure, Please~ and thank you very much.

Is this call help desk? Why help desk without knowledge one???~ Why we paid Maxis so much and they do have this lousy service.

I need to send email to their HR dept and ask them do they know how to use the HRDF (HR development’s fund), why did not give their employees training.

Below article are base on Digi Edge Broadband Service which started on year 2004, this service still available, mostly provide the coverage for those area without 3G broadband services.

This is the 1st time I made some review on Malaysian telco broadband service. So far there are 3 famous telco (mobile telco) which is Digi, Maxis, and Celcom…

Why I put Digi 1st? because I am Digi Supporter , and this post I going to show my experience on their Broadband.

Few day back, my boss has subscribe Digi Broadband service and the package are quite interesting, Only RM139/month, you will get a free Compaq Laptop, a PDA, and Digi Broadband service. This package last for 2 contract if not mistaken.

his package include a data module, so-called modem, sim card are insert in this device.

So for the speed not so good, I tested with few server in several location, mostly 90 to 110 kb/s only

Penang Data Center

KL Data Center

Singapore Data Center

China Data Center

New York Data Center

Recently a friend of mine buy a Bluetooth Stereo Headphone, the model is Dell BH200. I have tested this product, few pros and cons.

It is hard to find this product at website, so i didn get much spect from internet. For this gadget. It can use to

Pair with hand phone, hear MP3

Pair with hand phone, be a Hand Free (Mic Included)

Pair with PC or Notebook, enjoy music , hear MP3

Pair with PC or Notebook, use for internet phone, such as Skype

1 worst thing we ever found after play with this little gadget. The Cons is

~Not compatible with WalkMan phone~

Other then this, i also found some comment when googling, people said

~Not compatible with Windows VISTA too~

My friend was sad, after bought this little gadget, and he is using Sony Ericsson’s WalkMan Phone. He can’t use it to hear Mp3… Pity him la~

The Market price i was not sure, but my friend ask his friend who work in dell purchase with staff price, price is cheap (Not convenience to announce the price)

There are similar product which is also a headphone from iTech, Market Price is about MYR180++…

After playing around this product, i wonder to get 1 too… Because I already plan to buy a bluetooth headset for my handphone and also a normal headset with mic to talk skype to my net friend. Now, combine 2 in one… definitely worth to buy~
