Beginning of this week, me and my “Sifu” (senior colleague) went to a client company for IT support, and my Sifu pass me a laptop, he said if the user forgot the windows login password. Ask me to find solution (my assignment)
Wow, such a deep question here,
Me: Sifu~ totally unable to login windows, how to clear it?
Sifu: Find solution, there has few solution out there, try to googling,
Until today, I found few solution, and still testing it. Here have some action to show, but cant solve my problem yet, becouse this method is do it went you are already in windows. (sad..but not the solution for my assignment
)

Click Start -> Run -> type cmd (Open a Command Prompt)
Type C:\> net user
You will see the available user in your PC
To clear that particular user password
Type C:\> net user username password (example like above)
Above picture, i have change iCalvyn password to 11223344
The above method are not apply to what I looking at. This method are useful provided that you already login in to the windows, but for my case, i am not able to login in to windows yet.

One time I got freaked out when I type my password and the window says it’s wrong, then I remember I changed my password but can’t remember to what! So nervous that time thinking that my files everything are gone forever. Luckily I manage to remember back the password.
Hope you can develop the solution, then share with us, incase we’ve forgotten our password. hehe

Normally, I use safe mode and login as Administrator (which normally doesn’t have any password) then I can simply change the password in User Account control panel.

Press F8 when start ur machine.
Enter SAFE MODE
Goto User Account, Change the password or erase it.

OMG, if this method is discovered, laptop thieves will not need to reformat our hard disk to clear the password! Those info inside our hard disk will be EXPOSED!

Wayne > actually a data from formated hard disk also can retrieve back, just need the right tools, i am seeking for this tools currently… it is not easy to found it.

I’ve heard of a LiveCD called Ã’phcrâck which can crack Windows based system password in less then 10 minutes. Windows Vista password also can be cracked. I’m downloading the iso now. I’ll tell you the result later on.

As far as I know people normally hack into password protected window by:
1. at logon screen, press CTRL+ALT+DEL few time till another logon screen appear..
2. after that, clear the username and type Administrator and clear the password box and leave it as blank.
3. Enter now.
*It may failed if you put password to Administrator account as well..
But, I do read about using a some Windows CD to acquire the password, just forget it. I’ll do some research again regardin it

Waaaaaaaaaaaa…………… this sort of information is scary la!!!
Ok, then instead of cracking into windows, is there a way to PREVENT people from cracking into windows???
By HORNY ANG MOH on Sep 17, 2007 | Reply
May be u can reinstall the windows but keep the file ie not as new install! Have a nice day!

Hohohoh, if the safe mode cant do the trick….
Then the EASIEST way by far is to get the HIREN BOOT CD… A MUST have for all IT PPL out there. =p
Can just remove the window password after booting up from the cd… =p

Ayie > Òphcrâck, sound like heard before, thank for the hints, i will find it out
Kesh > your suggestion is right, but i guest yours is part 2 only, still have a part one whereas need to do some setting 1st. I need to find out the part 1… seen like googling before this method
-r y u - > so far i didn found any place for prevention, actually there are no “security” in our end user computer, it is easy like drink water for a beginner hacker to hack our PC.
HORNY ANG MOH > to cost too much time to re-install the windows again, somemore, after re-install, dono the password still there or not…
Cometh > Well, another HIREN BOOT CD, thank for sharing, i will try out too…

Kesh’s way is the best way for those with meerly a password, but if you want to crack into someones password, using ‘HIREN BOOT CD’ is perfect, and pretty much the only way.
if you get a solution on how to do it, microsoft would correct this problem in the form of hotfixes, do not worry about your security.
get a good antivirus, i advise AVG 7.5 with firewall, not very expensive
and password protect your account and makesure its a easy password that you will never forget, nobody else will know it, so even if you have it a long time, don’t worry about it.
and password protect the administrator account by doing kesh’s method and once in the account going start>control panel>user accounts, and its straightforward from there
also, if your still worried about security, there are tools that can protect your hardrive from unwanted visitors, just look them up, and pay for them
usually free security software is crap

Just so everyone knows, passwords to protect your computer are completely useless. There are plenty of programs out there that start up instead of Windows, and can reset your password in about 10-20 seconds. Like the previous use said, ‘HIREN BOOT CD’ has one of these programs built into it. Macs aren’t any better, if you just start up with the install disk, there is a button to reset the password. With windows you can also just usually start up by pressing F8 before windows starts to start up in safe mode, where the Administrator doesn’t usually have a password set(it is hidden from normal startup). On top of all of this, if someone really wanted to get your information without you knowing, they could take your hard drive out and put it in another computer, and use it as a secondary drive. This would completely bypass all security and give them complete access to everything on your computer.
The only way to truly protect your computer is to encrypt any data you are worried about with something other than windows. However, this can usually still be cracked if someone takes the time.
