Digi Broadband

Files under Mobile Service | Posted by calvyn

This is the 1st time I made some review on Malaysian telco broadband service. So far there are 3 famous telco (mobile telco) which is Digi, Maxis, and Celcom…

Why I put Digi 1st? because I am Digi Supporter :) , and this post I going to show my experience on their Broadband.

Few day back, my boss has subscribe Digi Broadband service and the package are quite interesting, Only RM139/month, you will get a free Compaq Laptop, a PDA, and Digi Broadband service. This package last for 2 contract if not mistaken.

his package include a data module, so-called modem, sim card are insert in this device.

So for the speed not so good, I tested with few server in several location, mostly 90 to 110 kb/s only

Penang Data Center

KL Data Center

Singapore Data Center

China Data Center

New York Data Center

I have made few location within asia and europe too, the speed are not so nice, since it is EDGE only and not 3G, when I do browsing, only 2 browser I can open, and some more need to wait around 10 to 20 second to load a page.

My 2 cent
This service are portable and only for those people who need internet while traval, not recommend to for home use.

Wow!! Thanks for showing me the speed on DiGi EDGE. I was addicted to their promotion of free laptop and mobile. Luckily I didn’t sign up for this, the line is too slow. I feel much better with 3G celcom. :D

I wanted to subscribe Digi Broadband too. Then I tested their speed at one of their roadshows. Damn bloody slow. Just slightly faster than dialup and we were in full coverage area.

What about Celcom 3G and Maxis wiresless broadband? I’ve been wanting to subscribe celcom 3g but the price of the data-module is really killing.. -.-

Even Maxis and Celcom providing the same service all of them for same price RM139. Isn’t is expensive?

Another iCalvyn, how do I apply for Malaysian Technology Blogs? Being a tech blog, I also want my contents being available in Malaysian Technology Blogs network feed. Could you help me?

    Thanks

Actually you can buy a mobile to act as modem for your 3G. Get v3xx for 3.6mbps connection speed cheaper(around rm700) than the Huawei broadband (around rm900). Enjoy!!

I am also a DiGi EDGE subscriber for 6 months before my house have land line (Telekom Malaysia). I need Internet badly so I have to subscribe to DiGi EDGE because it is the cheapest at that time RM 99/month. Their service at my house I can get is GPRS and sometime EDGE. So, I can’t complaint much about their service. But now, I have Streamyx.

But now I am using Celcom Broadband too…just wanna try out their service. I am not bound to any contract. I can terminate anytime. The monthly charges is RM 68/month. The speed is OK.

I would like to try Maxis Wireless Broadband but I have asked and they have contract of 18 months if I still can remember correctly, :)

You can go to digi or celcom, for sure, celcom 3G definitely will faster then digi edge.

But 1 serious thing, don’t go for maxis, you will sure regret
