PenangFon is a Internet Service Provider (ISP) special for Penang resident. Not all location have this service, only certain location have this sevice, mostly are apartment and condo. For the price, cheaper the Streamyx and MaxisBB. Check out the Service Area and the Pricing or visit their Webiste

I hear before some comment from end user, at least 1 thumb up. So sad my house don’t have this service and have to use this stupid lousy Maxis. if comparing on the service such as speed and price (Monthly fees,activation fees and installation) definately non of the service provider are it competitor.
Wifi Service Provider at My Company
Recently a 3rd party company name Trident (IT Support Outsource Company) has installing WIFI service in my company. This service is for guest use, and this Trident actually subscribe PenangFon Service.
Fiber Optic Installation process…
Penang Fon suppose to install the Fiber Optic to my company on this monday 16th July, but they delay come in. According to once of my friend, an IT guy at Boon Siew Group (BSG), due to they have installation at BSG, so delay come to my company.
According to the Fiber Optic Technician, they are pulling the Fiber Optic cable from BSG to Cititel Hotel thought drain… OMG, do i heard wrong?

It really from “Drain” how about the goverment have construction to expend the drain? haiz…forgot about it la, as long they can adjust without my internet down time will do.
After pulling cable from outsite the building, at the end point of our internet connection, they install a device call “WDM fiber Converter” and also a small rack to keep the fiber.
Do you see inside the rack, have a black color cable, that is the Fiber Optic pull from outside the building, and below the rack, have 1 white color paip, is the trunking of the black color fiber optic cable from outside the building.
Do you know how much the cost for this yellow Fiber Optic cable? aproximate RM200++ for 3Meter. If compare to normal UTP cable, cheapest i can get RM3 for 3Meter Cat-5 cable…
This is the WDM Fiber Converter that cost the subscriber alot, which is “Setup fee of RM800 (inclusive of Media Converter)” stated in price section
Now we are waiting for activation and a IP address from PenangFon, i really cant wait to test out this 2M high speed Fiber Optic Internet line…

yea.. i heard they pull from drain. well well.. i am using slowmyx. this few days it is stable but a few weeks back like havoc!!! wish you the best with penangfon

test the speed then tell us. very interest to know . and the cabling system outside the building is quite dangerous lo, what if some Kuai Lxx ppl go cut it then whole building no internet connection. still waiting them to come to my condo.

MetroFON is the same with PenangFON rite?
MetroFON for KL area.
I wonder when they would install this fiber optic cable at my apartment in Sungai Besi??

Nick> i think this few days will start use, now the activation document and the IP address still at the 3rd party side, they not yet come in. i Will test out the speed and let u all know, probable is nearly 2M… ya, they way they lay the cable are suck, i hv ask them on if those Kuai Lxx people see how, they said just a simple cable, people dono what is inside, people tought is water paip only.

i’m also waiting for penangfon to be installed at my mum’s apartment. anything works for me as long as i dun need to pay rental fee to TM.

ya, penangfon no need phone rental, it is nice la, save at least RM30 already…
i have tested the line already, and will post it on another fews day, b’cos i still wan to do comparison with my lousy maxis and my company tmnut,slowmyx
